As the protege of Australia's most awarded combined Marriage Celebrant & Wedding DJ/MC, Jay, he was a part of many many marriage ceremonies as Jays assistant. This exposure drove him to training as a marriage celebrant. Upon becoming an Authorised Marriage Celebrant, James has been part of some truely amazing ceremonies and celebrations.
James has a genuine passion for weddings, to the point he took the plunge to leave his previous career and become a full time employee of Wedding Sounds. Since then, James has shown such an level of creativity and professionalism that, he is now co-owner of Wedding Sounds.

My background is in performance, having worked as a theatre-maker, children’s entertainer, event host and MC for over 15 years. With this experience I can cater to any style of ceremony, be it traditional, light-hearted or even themed (I can happily dress up for your event as well!)

I create them for absolutely everything so the experience with me will include lots of different to-do lists and deal with me making notes during all of our encounters!

The role of being a ceremony designer and performer is really the culmination of so many other skills and interests that Joseph has developed over the course of his lifetime.
He has always felt comfortable speaking in public since childhood, and enjoyed creative writing and storytelling as a teenager, and he thrived in critical academic discussions around motivation and purpose during university, and then Joseph finally discovered the joy during his time performing Buddhist rituals within a community.
Once Joseph's time within each of these activities was done, this new activity of 'celenbrant' was such a natural fit that he jumped in with both feet.

I am an experienced marriage celebrant and I love my work! I specialise in weddings, renewal of vows and commitment ceremonies (including same-sex commitment ceremonies).
I am a confident public speaker, but more importantly I recognise the need to listen. After all, when planning and delivering a ceremony, the focus should be on the couple not me. It’s their day and their ceremony. My role is to work respectfully with couples to create their dream ceremony that is meaningful and memorable. No two couples are the same, so each ceremony should be fresh and special.
My goal is always to reassure, guide and remove any stress ... Happy planning!
