We will walk you through every step to getting married
Getting legally married in Australia is easier than you might think — especially with the help of an experienced marriage celebrant.
The legal process begins with completing a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM), which must be lodged with your celebrant at least one month before your wedding date. As professional civil celebrants, we’ll guide you through this essential step, making sure everything is filled out accurately and submitted on time. You’ll also need to provide identification, such as a passport or birth certificate, and any required documentation from a previous marriage (such as a divorce certificate or death certificate). We make the legal paperwork simple, so you can focus on the excitement of your big day.
On your wedding day, your authorised celebrant will take care of the legal requirements — including witnessing and lodging your marriage documents. With two witnesses present, you’ll sign the official certificates during your ceremony, and we’ll ensure everything is submitted to the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages for registration.
But we don’t just handle the legal side — we also help you plan a personalised, memorable wedding ceremony that reflects your unique love story. James is an experienced and highly respected wedding performer. James, like most of the Wedding Sounds team, comes from a background of the performing arts and theatre. He started his wedding journey with Wedding Sounds as a DJ & MC performer. He takes tremendous joy from helping couples get their dream day!!!
As the protege of Australia's most awarded combined Marriage Celebrant & Wedding DJ/MC, Jay, he was a part of many many marriage ceremonies as Jays assistant. This exposure drove him to training as a marriage celebrant. Upon becoming an Authorised Marriage Celebrant, James has been part of some truely amazing ceremonies and celebrations.
James has a genuine passion for weddings, to the point he took the plunge to leave his previous career and become a full time employee of Wedding Sounds. Since then, James has shown such an level of creativity and professionalism that, he is now co-owner of Wedding Sounds.
